Mrs. Amanda Christine Skog of Keokuk R. R. 2, died at 4:15 o’clock Tuesday in the home of a nephew, Clarence G. Skog, whom she reared as a son. She had been in failing health for the last two years and seriously ill for the last six weeks.
Born August 18, 1867, in Smoland, Sweden, she was the daughter of John P. and Katherine Swanson Moander and came to the United States with her parents at the age of three years. She has lived in this community practically all of her life.
In 1901 she married John R. Skog in Montrose, he preceded her in death February 16, 1926
She was a member of the Old Swedish Mission church.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles Moander of Keokuk and Lewis Moander of Montrose R. F. D.; the nephew, Clarence G. Skog; a grandson, John Skog, of Nederland, Texas and three great grandchildren.
Very friendly and thinking of others rather than herself, Mrs. Skog raised a stepson Arthur Skog, as well as the nephew. The stepson died March 19, 1945, and she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna and Serena, and two brothers, Edward and Albert Moander.
The funeral was held in the Schmidt Memorial home with the Rev. Morrel C. Ruby of Montrose officiating. Music was by Mrs. James Wardlow and Mrs. D. T. Phillips with Mrs. Marjorie Bullis at the organ. The pallbearers were Charles Gabel, Irvin Moander, Carroll Moander, Herbert Moander, Harold Larson and Charles Juhl. Burial was in the Scandinavian cemetery.
