The 1 x 4 x 16s were clamped and the top edge was beveled with a plane (end shown after the rake was cut). The rakes for the bow and stern are cut while the boards are clamped together. (My wood clamps were too big....)

 

All marks had to be transferred to each board. Marking the final size of the deck mortise cuts.

 

Ok, so I cheated on making my angled mortise cuts. Not the traditional way, but... great Valentine's Day gift. The trick was in the holding a board nearly 16' long.

 

The angled deck mortises can be seen near the top edge. The angle is the same as the bevel on the top edge. Rib mortises marked and ready for the drill press. A router bit made all slot cuts clean edged.

 

Using a router bit made the rib mortises a breeze. All mortises finished.
