The kitchen of the Dear Drop Inn has burned down and everyone in the diner seems to be a suspect. The police have some of the clues, but it looks like only the most ingenious audience members will be able to surmise who or whom committed the arson.
The Lake Placid High School Drama Club is presenting the third annual audienceparticipation mystery play entitled "Just Donuts." The drama starts at 3 p.m. with the first act presented in the Lake Placid High School Auditorium. After watching the first act, the audience will travel, by bus, to clue sites located around Mirror Lake - picking and choosing which sites to visit and when (within a specified time).
Once again an audience of detectives will be circling Mirror Lake, in Lake Placid, searching for clues to solve the mystery of whodunit. As in the past, this year's audience-participation play will include bits and pieces related to the Lake Placid area and Olympic sports in general.
The audience will gather clues, then return to the high school for dinner served to them after turning in their conclusion of who they believe committed the murder. Prizes will be given to the shrewdest detectives.
Det. Ergo (Erin Dempsey) heads up the investigation with help from Officer Mick Suzanne (Mike Kelly). They have their hands full with a cast of characters (make that suspects) including Jeff Dietrich, Lukas Plank, Dan Baker, Ryan Garso, Ed Charette, Phoebe Adams and Elizabeth Dietrich.
The play will be directed by Peggy Plank and, much like the presentation last year, "Just Donuts" will contain local humor about people and places within the region. "Just Donuts" was written by local author Gem*Boy as a fund raiser for the high school performing arts groups. Profits from "Just Donuts" help support the groups' bi-annual trip to New York City.
