Pastor writes . . .

In early July, the Keeseville church took nominations for a Revisioning Task Force. This RTF is to help lead the church along a path of renewal which will take it into the third millennium. More about this as the year progresses.

The event of the summer at Keeseville was, of course, the Festival. Although the weather was marvelous--except for a fierce shower on the Friday evening--some high temperatures made the middle of the day uncomfortable. Still, we were well-attended and the auction drew plenty of bids. Our final total of funds earned was, $4750. A hearty "Well done!" to all those who worked so hard to make it a success--and special thanks to Jim Blaise, who chaired the festival committee.

Immediately after the festival concluded, I welcomed the Rev Robert Martin of Peru to our church for a funeral service for the late Susan Prescott Luck. The UMW from Harkness--at short notice-- hosted a reception in the Keeseville Church Hall following the interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The quality efforts of the Harkness UMW was greatly appreciated by the family.

Summer has allowed me an opportunity to visit with a number of folks, and I have enjoyed the privilege of meeting many of you and getting to know you a little better. One couple I was able to visit were Tim and Valerie Butler on Telegraph Road. Tim and Val decided to join the Keeseville church and we welcomed them into membership on August 1st. It was a red-letter day, because we were also able to baptize their delightful baby, Erin, later during the same service.

Also, on August 1, we admitted our friend Jay Hamilton into membership as well. Welcome Jay! What a pleasure it is to welcome people into membership and to see children baptized. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be theirs, adults and children alike, as they grow and work with us in this corner of Christ's kingdom.

Pastor Pat of the Church of the Nazarene left during summer to take an appointment in Amherst, NY--his home town. We are sorry to see him go, and we pray that our brothers and sisters in Christ will be guided by God as they seek their next pastor.

With Pat leaving, I agreed to assume responsibility for the Bible Study class at Keeseville Country Gardens. We have already met three times, have agreed to a summer hiatus, and will meet again in September.

Speaking of Bible Class--Roby Scott has agreed to be responsible for the adult class at Keeseville. Why not make up your mind to attend--Sunday mornings before church commences.

A number of members of our two churches were ill over the summer months--some still are. Please do not forget to give thanks and to remember them in your prayers.

Again, on August 24, I was privileged to conduct the service at Horace Nye in Elizabethtown.

Blessings!...as you get ready for the Fall: Pastor Campbell.
