Matt 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

The basic foundation of God's Law is The Ten Commandments. I believe that if we keep the first commandment, chances are, we won't easily break the others.

Some sins are offensive to God and if we do not repent we'll have to face the consequences when we stand before Him. Other sins (against the flesh) reap their own reward/penalty right here in this earth age.

For instance - the law of gravity . . . if you slip off the curb while walking down the street, you have broken the law of gravity and will pay the consequences now - ouch. Accidents happen, and a sin committed in ignorance is no sin (you won't lose your soul over it); but, if you intentionally jump off a cliff, you have broken that same law of gravity and your intentions matter considerably.

The consequences where God is concerned, depend upon your intentions. God knows our hearts (minds), He knows what our intentions are - no man can perceive that. He knows the gravity (no pun intended) of our sins.

Intentions

Acts 8:17 - 22

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Repentance

Luke 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Luke 15:5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

Luke 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

There is joy in heaven when one sinner repents. Awesome, isn't it? God put it plain and simple.

2Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

You don't need an address, phone number, or another person to get in touch with God, all you have to do is speak to Him directly from your heart. He is willing to forgive those who repent.

To repent is to regret your actions or intentions; to know that you are guilty because you offended our Father; to have a change of heart (mind); to desire to clean up your act. To turn around. It is more than just a feeling . . . it is knowledge and understanding.

Psalm 25:6 - 7

Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.

Forgiveness

Isn't it wonderful to be forgiven? Repent, ask Father for forgiveness, and He wipes the slate clean. If He forgives, we must be willing to forgive also. We must forgive ourselves . . . a hard thing to do. But Jesus, who was without sin, paid the price for us without a whimper (1Peter 2:21-24), we must respect and be grateful for that.

When we neglect to forgive ourselves, it negates what Christ did for us. When there is true repentance, forgiveness must follow . . . we don't forget . . . we just release the burden. Then, we must also forgive others when they repent.

2 Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace

Luke 17:3
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Luke 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

We have a loving and forgiving Father.
By just trying to please Him, we are showing our love for Him.

That's really what He wants from us - our love.
Have you told Him that you love Him today?
