June 5, 2000 Spring Garden Tour

For many of you who have visited or just seen pictures of my house, this is a familiar site. While we did have snow until last week (OK, maybe it was last month... or the month before), that has all changed as you will see.

 

But first .... A black fly update. As you look at my nice green lawn, and think of the sunny days., remember the price. It seems like the worst black fly season ever. Maybe they all seem like that, but to back up my point, I submit that I heard yesterday that two kids from Beaver Camp had to be taken to the Emergency Room. They had gotten so many black fly bites that their little faces had swelled up.
 

 

This is my house 9 am today. I was going to take some pictures of things inside, but I find I am much more interested in the yard lately. I guess it is the nice weather.
 

 

This is the Pond of Uncertainty. It is so named because you will never be able to tell if the fish that I put in it are still there. At least not with certainty. It is like a black hole. There is no way to see, even a bright fish, at the bottom. I am proud to report that I saw one fish this morning. You have to sneak up on them.
 

I am proud because I have at least one fish left, but also because they are all smart. If they hide when I come, they will hide when a predator comes, and that is what will keep them alive.

The indoor fish beg for food, and come as close to you as they can get, when you walk over to the tank. They would never make it in the wild.

The pond counts as art, yes?
 

This is my Tea Garden. When you come visit, I will boil water and you can go collect whatever fresh teas you want to drink. Right now I would suggest lemon balm, apple mint, or chocolate mint.

Tell me this isn't art!
 

You'll get the close up of the garden some other day. To have a garden up here, you have to protect it from predators as well. Those vicious rabbits, and deer. I don't have all my plants in the ground yet.
