Baron Sir Stephen Grandchamp

I, Stephen Grandchamp, am a christian knight in fealty to the duke of Normandy, in this the year of our Lord 997. I come from viking ancestors that settled here on the coast of Normandy in the mid 800's, and accepted christ, in exchange for land and title, as a buffer between the franks and their many enemies.

In 960 a.d., my father recieved formal title to the barony that we have defended since the days of my grandfather, and with the new found wealth, I was sent to Paris to be educated.

In 986 a.d., I was squired to a Freisian master, to earn my passage of arms. We fought beside him across northern France for several years in service to many Lords, and in 981, I returned home at news of my fathers passing to take control of the barony.

In 993 a.d. I was knighted, and swore fealty to the Duke of Normany. As the millenium nears, in spite of the many wild rumors and fears, our dutchy is secure and we look toward expansion, and the return of the holy land. We are in close contact with the Saxons in England and now have enclaves in Italy at the very threshold of the holy land
