Founded in 1990 By Steve and Linda Murphy, and many others, this shire was origionally sponsored into the SCA by the Mountain Freehold. In 1993 the Shire went to full status from its then Incipient Status. Coldwood has since held many of the Northern Region Warcamps, and many other events at the site of the "Inne at Coldwood" (Which is owned by the Murphys).
The Shire Shield Device is
Azure, a bear rampant within a laurel wreath and in chief three mullets argent.
