 | This is New York City
from the plane as we left Sunday morning. |
 | This is a view of
the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, as we arrived. |
 | Yeah, we were definitely tired!
After 10 hours of traveling, we all needed a little rest! |
 | And so begins our mission. Here we are walking around Los Barrancones, a "barrio"
(ghetto) inviting people to the crusade that night. |
 | Another of our projects was to paint houses. The paint help preserve
the house and made it look better. Some groups had a lot of fun doing this job! |
 | The view from the trail climbing up the mountain was
incredible! |
 | On top of the mountain, there was a small
village that got their food from farming. We helped move food plants and shade trees to be planted. The food up there was great! At least in my opinion... |
 | I'm not sure what was ailing this boy, but he was in the
children's hospital we visited. Just a moment before this picture, he was laughing and playing with the balloon. To see more black and white pictures from this trip,
go to the photo page. |
 | This little girl is so beautiful, but she was also shy. I had to get a picture
with her |
 | Of course, it's me with kids again. I just couldn't stay away from them. |
 | This was "my" little boy - mi amigo, Moreno! |
 | This is Robert, one of the translators - the "crazy" one! |
 | Edwin was another one of our translators. This picture was taken at a Catholic
Church in La Vega. |
 | This is Denny, Bau, Moreno, Kim and Traci. They had just returned from climbing
the mountain. |
 | This is Melody and me and one of the coordinators of our trip. Tracy is also
an English teacher at the TEARS ministry school. |
 | This is Indira, who also helped coordinate our trip AND taught us
how to dance the meringue. |
| In the church in La Vega, one of the ministries is a rap ministry. There are several guys involved,
and these are two of them. They do a great job rapping and it's all in Spanish! This is Kim and I with Yenci and Alberto. |
 | And of course, we had fun! Here Bau and I are laughing (obviously), but I'm
not sure what was so funny. |
 | We were all dancing in the pavilion at the Catholic Church and this lady
decided to teach Steve how to dance. |
 | This is at the beach in Puerto Plata, the last day we were there.
(Steve, Melody, Kim, Alberto, me) |
 | What gentlemen, holding up this rock so it doesn't fall on the girls.... |
 | This is our translator, Elias, and Steve. |
