I want to thank those that
participated in the Memorial Day Parade.
But there were only about 10 where were the rest of
you? I saw many of our members
standing along the route, why didn’t you join in? It has always amazed me over the years that
out of 400 plus members, about 10 participate in Memorial Day and Veterans
Day. The same 10 attend our meetings and
work our dinners but when the Post Picnic is held the building is packed. We have never asked our member to do a lot of
work but if everyone did a little it would sure help. If you don’t get more involved I worry about
where this Post will be in a few years!
Those of you that have worked and those that can no longer because of
age or illness I thank you for your contributions over the years. Think about what the VFW stands for, if we don’t
remember, who will?

Presidents notes:
This
being my last newsletter, I wish to thank my officers: Sr. Vice Anita Savoca, ; Jr. Vice Donna Cline;
Treasurer Pat Nadeau; Secretary Irene Maginn; Chaplain Joanne MaComber;
Conductress Ruth Thurston; Patriotic Instructor Pat Rubado
and my 3 Year Trustee Ruth Deshaies. Also Justine Wilson for the dinners she
chaired and all the ladies who helped put on the dinners. The kitchen is where we make our money so we
can help so many people in our community.
For instance, we gave a thousand dollars toward our sign out front,
$1500 to the DAV towards a new van, Massena Memorial Foundation, Village
Police, Fire Department, Rescue Squad, and National Home for Children to name a
few. I also want to thank my
chairpersons who chaired the many programs for Department. These programs are for worthy causes. Again, thank you for helping to make the
Auxiliary so successful for 2003.
I am
happy to report the Annual
At our
May meeting, Past Department President Marianne McLane
paid us a visit. It is always a
pleasure to see her. A lunch was served
after the meeting.
