Norwalk Islands Sharpies

Norwalk Islands Sharpies are a series of Bruce Kirby designed flat bottomed sailboats designed for cruising coastal waters especially where shallow draft is desired.  These are unique boats designed for plywood and epoxy construction by amateur builders.  The looks are traditional but the rigs feature modern unstayed carbon fiber or aluminum spars.  Kirby is primarily a designer of racing sailboats (from the Laser to America's Cup yachts) so he naturally planned excellent sailing performance into these boats.
