Our name and our mandate are from Paul's letter to the Phillipian church. In chapter four verse eight, he states-
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
We at WT think that too often this verse is only used to filter out
the bad stuff that
we could think about, especially in the area of curricula for
home schooled highschoolers.
Christian textbook publishers and hence, their writers, seem to have
their own form of
"language police". If you have ever wondered about the dryness of
some
textbooks
( Christian or otherwise) check out The Language
Police. We at WT believe the directive of Phil 4:8 is meant to be
thought of as a
radar tool as well as a sieve. "Whatsoever" might be paraphrased
"wherever,
whenever you hear of ....think on these". So, we make it our aim
to find
these
"things" through cable news, radio, email lists, CSPAN, and websites of
excellent teachers in the
public
and private sectors. We seek out
educational tools that
meet the criteria of Phil. 4:8 , but are not found in the
traditional home school
catalogs. You'll find our recommended resources at "Pat's Picks" where you can sign up to
be notified when this archive grows.
