Digital Antenna

Robert and I are always looking for ways to save a few dollars. And homemade projects fit the bill. We don't have cable or a satellite dish and where we live we weren't picking up any digital signals. It's a good thing that the Canadian stations have not converted over to digital yet. Robert decided to build his own digital antenna from instructions he found on the internet. Now we get the local public television station. It doesn't pick up any of the other local channels, so in that respect it is a disappointment, but we are happy to get the PBS station along with the local Canadian stations.

Cat Condo

Our cat, Murr, likes to sleep in the dirt of one of my house plants. Needleless to say, the plant is holding on for dear life. So I looked on the internet for instructions for making my own Kitty Condo. I found various condos, ranging from a simple stratching post to a four tiered playhouse. We picked out the format we wanted and started gathering materials for a condo with just one tier and one house. While going through this exercise, we noticed that we had quite a few of those snap-together wire cubbies that we had bought to try and organize the kids' junk. Why measure, cut, and carpet a condo when we could snap it together? So we snapped together a three tiered condo. I also found some old blankets hoping this would keep her from sleeping in the dirt. So far, I'm still sweeping up dirt around my poor plant, but we are catching her sleeping in the condo more often.
